Summary

Facing the towering, evolved demon, Inosuke feels a pressure he has never known and believes he will die. He recalls Tanjiro telling him to wait, and Hisa's wish for him to live with pride. Steeling himself, he names himself Inosuke Hashibira of the Demon Slayer Corps and demands the demon face him. Father punches him through several trees, then closes in to finish him. Inosuke dodges and leaps to strike from behind with Beast Breathing's Third Fang, but his blades snap against the thick skin. Enraged, Father slams him into another tree.

Lifting Inosuke by the throat, Father shouts again for the Slayers to leave his family, and squeezes. Inosuke tries a final escape with the First Fang, but his broken weapons do nothing, and the demon crushes his throat. As his life flashes by, Inosuke remembers an infant memory of a bloodied woman apologizing to him, alongside visions of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Hisa. Just as blood seeps from his mask, Father's arm is severed and Inosuke drops free.

Giyu Tomioka has arrived. Father regenerates and rushes the Hashira with blinding speed, but Giyu uses Water Breathing's Fourth Form to dismember him at once, then calmly sheathes his sword through the precise motion of noto. Inosuke stares in awe, eager to learn who he is. Across the mountain, Rui reveals his plan to torture Tanjiro slowly, offering a swifter death if he recants. Wounded but defiant, Tanjiro refuses and insists Rui is in the wrong. Tracking the threads by smell, he uses Water Breathing's First Form to cut them, only to watch his blade split in two against the thread.
