Nao Tōyama

In Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the anime produced by studio Ufotable, Tōyama provides the voice of Suma, one of the wives of the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui. The character adds to a long roster of anime parts that Tōyama has accumulated since entering the profession. After making her voice acting debut in 2010, she stepped into her first starring assignment as Kanon Nakagawa in The World God Only Knows, and she went on to headline a series of popular titles. Among the leads most closely tied to her name are Chitoge Kirisaki in Nisekoi, Yui Yuigahama in My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected, Chiho Sasaki in The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, and Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp. The Suma role places her within an ensemble production at a point when she had already established herself as a leading performer.

Tōyama is represented by the agency Intention, having earlier belonged to Arts Vision. Beyond her debut lead, her credits span a broad range of well-known series, including Tomoe Koga in Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, Karen Kujō in Kin-iro Mosaic, and Ruka Sarashina in Rent-A-Girlfriend. Her work runs in parallel with an active singing career. That musical side first surfaced through songs released in character as Kanon Nakagawa for The World God Only Knows, before she launched her own solo career as a recording artist. She has also performed as part of a music unit connected to the Macross franchise, contributing to its songs alongside her acting.

Tōyama's standing in the industry was recognized at the 13th Seiyu Awards in 2019, where she received the Best Supporting Actress Award together with Yū Serizawa, as well as the Game Award. On the music front, she made her solo debut as a singer on February 1, 2017, issuing the double A-side single "True Destiny" / "Chain the World" through the Flying Dog label. Her membership in the Macross-affiliated vocal unit Walküre further extended her reach as a performing artist beyond voice acting alone.
