A close-quarters loadout for Unit-01 devised in the ANIMA timeline to counter SEELE's coming Mass Production Evangelions. Stripped of horn and weapon racks and armed with bayoneted handguns, it never leaves the drawing board once Type F development takes priority.
Documented in the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA Visual Book, this configuration comes out of studies conducted three years ahead of the television series' events, when equipment for close quarters battle was researched to give NERV an advantageous position against the Mass Production Evangelions SEELE was expected to send. The concept assumes fighting inside a city, prizing rapid movement through urban terrain and clever use of the surroundings.
The horn and the weapon racks come off entirely. Emptying the shoulder pylons of their stored weapons frees space for cameras and sensors, which also go into the head. A new armor material, lighter and harder than the old plating and coated with Angel remains, allows the frame to project something resembling an A.T. Field of its own.
Armament consists of a matched pair of handguns fitted with bayonets, each cycling at 1,880 rounds per minute. The intended tactic is surgical: slice open the enemy's barrier with the field generated along the bayonet's blade, then fire through the resulting gap for a guaranteed hit.
None of it ever fights. Development priority shifts to the Type F equipment, and with SEELE's timetable for the Human Instrumentality Project running late, the CQB kit is shelved without a single sortie.
Shinji Ikari is listed as its pilot and Yui Ikari as its soul, matching the base Unit-01. Ikuto Yamashita produced the design, whose color separation closely resembles his original-color Revoltech Unit-01 figure sold through the Evangelion Store in late 2006.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Evangelion Unit-01 Type CQB is a close-quarters combat configuration for Unit-01, documented in the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA Visual Book as a design study conducted three years before the television series' events.
Unit-01 Type CQB carries a matched pair of bayoneted handguns, each cycling at 1,880 rounds per minute, designed to cut open an enemy's A.T. Field with the bayonet before firing through the gap.
Unit-01 Type CQB was developed to give NERV an edge in urban combat against the Mass Production Evangelions that SEELE was expected to deploy.
No, development priority shifted to the Type F equipment, and Unit-01 Type CQB was shelved without ever fighting a single battle.
Ikuto Yamashita produced the Unit-01 Type CQB design.
