Fad

The anime does not give Fad a formal physical rundown. He is depicted as an adult male former lawman; the one concrete detail attached to him is his sidearm, a Smith and Wesson handgun.

Fad is a double-dealer at heart, keeping a friendly face toward Jet while working for a syndicate behind his back. Guilt eventually creeps in, and he frames the recapture of Udai as both a chance to relive old times and a way to make amends, yet when cornered he reaches for his gun rather than his conscience.

During the 2060s Fad walks a beat as an ISSP officer alongside his partner Jet Black, all while secretly drawing a paycheck from the European syndicate. When the syndicate moves against Jet, Fad conspires with their target Udai Taxim to lure Jet into an isolated spot. As Jet closes in on Udai, a floodlight blinds him and Fad opens fire, an ambush that costs Jet his arm and drives him out of the ISSP, none the wiser about who pulled the trigger. Years later, in 2071, Fad hears that Udai has slipped away during a prison run to Pluto. He talks Jet into hunting the escapee with him, partly to revisit the past and partly to ease his guilt, and together they storm the transport and cut down its convicts. Jet reaches Udai before Fad does, and Udai spills the truth about the old ambush. Fad silences him with a bullet, then turns the gun on Jet, but with only a single round chambered he misses his chance. Jet drops, recovers his own weapon, and fires the shot that kills him.
