A brief anime-only assignment from the original Naruto series sends a Konoha trio after a roaming thief out of the Land of Stone. The chase soon uncovers a case of mistaken identity, a bounty hunter chasing the same prize, and a man wrongly branded a murderer.
Running across episodes 159 and 160 of the original Naruto series, this short mission follows the Kurosuki Family Removal and Academy Student Lead stories and leads into the Cursed Warrior Extermination Mission. When news arrives that the notorious thief Gosunkugi of the Land of Stone is crossing toward the Land of Fire, Tsunade dispatches a small team to bring him in.
Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata set out on the capture, crossing paths with a bounty hunter named Sazanami who is chasing the same target. After brushing the young ninja aside, Sazanami tracks Gosunkugi down but is quickly beaten and rescued by the Konoha team. While tending his wounds, they discover he is actually a separate wanted man, Tokichi, who was framed for a family's murder that Gosunkugi himself committed. Resolving to clear his name, they join forces to hunt the real culprit once more.
Before Naruto's group can close in, both Gosunkugi and Tokichi are seized by a different bounty hunter and delivered to the authorities. That hunter proves to be an honourable man who helps prove Tokichi's innocence. For the Konoha team, however, the outcome counts as a failure, since another party made the capture in their place.

We ranked the six most popular women of Naruto from worst to first, and our number one is going to start a fight. The official poll got it wrong....

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
Neither Naruto's team nor the bounty hunter Sazanami manages to capture Gosunkugi. Before the Konoha team can close in, a different, honorable bounty hunter seizes both Gosunkugi and his lookalike Tokichi and turns them over to the authorities.
The Gosunkugi Capture Mission sends Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata after the notorious thief Gosunkugi of the Land of Stone, who is crossing into the Land of Fire, only for the case to unravel into one of mistaken identity.
Tokichi is a man wrongly framed for a family's murder that Gosunkugi actually committed. When the Konoha team realizes the mistake, they join forces with Tokichi to hunt down the real culprit, Gosunkugi.
Sazanami is a bounty hunter chasing the same target as Naruto's team. He tracks down Gosunkugi but is quickly beaten, and the Konoha team rescues him afterward.
The Gosunkugi Capture Mission counts as a failure for the Konoha team because a different bounty hunter captures both Gosunkugi and Tokichi and delivers them to the authorities before Naruto's group can do so themselves.
