Akita Inuzuka belongs to Konohagakure's Inuzuka clan and works as a lead researcher on the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team. Once a field ninja devoted to her hound Chamaru, she turned to science after Katasuke built her injured partner a prosthetic limb.
Glasses frame Akita's eyes, and a white lab coat hangs over the black dress she favors. She is slim and of average height, her long hair a dark shade. A choker sits at her throat, fang-shaped studs hang from her ears, and her canine teeth run noticeably long. She is, notably, the one known Inuzuka named for neither a body part nor marked with the clan's usual cheek fangs.
Akita pours herself wholeheartedly into whatever is dear to her. As a field ninja her chief worry was never the mission itself but the welfare of her dog Chamaru, and once she joined Katasuke that same fervor reappeared in an eccentric passion for building new technology. She also holds Katasuke in high regard, an admiration that edges toward attraction.
Akita began as a field operative with Chamaru as her partner, and she is an old acquaintance of the Seventh Hokage's household. When the ninken lost his right hind leg on a mission, she was relieved he had survived but pained by how the loss weighed on him. Learning of this, Katasuke Tono reached out and crafted a prosthetic for the dog, and Akita, moved and amazed, chose to become his assistant. Her Inuzuka heritage gives her a sharp nose, able to identify Team Konohamaru's arrival by scent alone, and she remains fluent in her clan's methods, including Fang Passing Fang, Fang Roar, and Fang Passing Whirlwind, on top of a keen scientific mind.
When Katasuke and Team Konohamaru reached the Advanced Technology Research Institute during the Ao arc, Akita greeted him eagerly before walking Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki through demonstrations of the advanced shinobi tools in development, explaining how Katasuke's kindness to Chamaru had inspired her. Later, in the anime's Kawaki arc, she reviewed the research into Kawaki's condition with Katasuke and Team 7, and after Sarada warned the lab of his escape and theft of the tools, she puzzled over how he had ever learned of them.
