Appearance

In his younger days Dodai kept his dark hair short and spiky, largely tucked beneath a forehead protector shaped like a hat, and he covered his left eye with a patch. He dressed in the usual Kumogakure gear, the single-strap flak jacket included. Age has sharpened the lines of his face and added a small goatee; he now favors the high-collared Kumo uniform, still wears the flak jacket and the hat-styled protector, and his eyepatch carries the stylized kanji for lightning.

Personality

A long career has left Dodai composed and clear-headed, qualities that hold even amid the chaos of war. He thinks like a tactician, coolly reading an enemy's strengths and improvising strategy on the spot, as he does when explaining the Third Raikage's powers in the middle of a battle. He also refuses to flinch from hard choices; when Naruto's clone asks why it was rescued instead of living soldiers, Dodai answers plainly and with regret that the clone mattered most to the fight against Madara.

Abilities

Dodai's expertise runs deep enough that in his youth he taught the fundamentals of the Lightning Release Double Lariat to A and the other candidates. Within the Allied Shinobi Forces he serves on the Communications Team, patching allies straight through to headquarters, and he reacts and adapts with striking speed in combat.

His signature is the Lava Release kekkei genkai, a blend of fire and earth chakra that produces a remarkably durable, rubber-like material. He molds it into walls and giant balls, ropes for grabbing, and broad tubes for defence, one of which absorbed the shock of Madara's falling meteorite. Unusually among Lava Release users, he can expel the substance from his mouth and also conjure it around and out of his own body.
