Dokku

Now thirty-six and rather heavyset, Dokku has thinning brown hair and a receding hairline, square-framed glasses, a short moustache, and a pointed beard. The militia of Tonika Village left its intricate tattoo on his right hand, and old scars mark his body from years past, though as a boy he was notably slim. He usually dresses plainly in a pale yellow shirt, navy trousers, and brown clogs, having given away the brown sleeveless jacket he once wore to the young Miina.

Courage and a strong sense of duty define Dokku, who will gladly gamble his own life to shield others. He dotes on children, treating those he rescues as though they were his own, yet he carries a heavy self-doubt rooted in the day he could not pull Shiseru to safety. That old failure convinced him he is weak, and every person he cannot save deepens his regret, bringing him near tears when he laments the villagers he had to leave behind.

As children, Dokku and Shiseru of Hacho Village were inseparable until she slipped over a cliff edge; he clung to her hand for nearly an hour before his grip gave out, and though she survived a fall into a tree, his helplessness drove him to join the Tonika militia and, after being dismissed, to become a teacher.

When raiders destroy Tonika Village, Dokku pulls Miina and Leo from their home, coaxing the frightened girl to leap into his arms, then carries them clear before returning for others; he saves Sora, Lando, and Faz as well, though the night leaves him badly wounded. He sends the children toward Hacho Village for help and reunites with them on the road. Taken in at Shiseru's home, he mistakes Naruto for one of the attackers and nearly dies fleeing across a fragile bridge, only for Naruto's shadow clones to catch him and Miina. Grateful, he confides his wish to be stronger so he might have saved more of his people.

When Disonasu and a reincarnated village head arrive, the truth of the massacre surfaces, and Dokku is dragged into the plot around the Ama no Hoko. He learns how to shut the weapon down, and he and Shiseru race toward it after bidding the children farewell. On the way she once again dangles from his grip above a drop, reliving their childhood; this time Naruto saves her, freeing Dokku to use the Saezuri and halt the Ama no Hoko. The family he has gathered reunites at last and thanks Naruto for everything.
