Dōshin

Draped almost entirely in green, Dōshin cuts a small figure whose face stays hidden behind a slate-grey mask streaked with red, the same disguise worn by nearly everyone answering to Shinga. Orange strands hang to his shoulders and fall far enough to conceal his gaze. Once the strain of his earthen technique catches up with him, his features take on a noticeably older, worn cast.

A streak of immaturity runs through everything Dōshin does. He treats combat like a game, cracking jokes as his golems trade blows with enemy shinobi and brushing off the danger as mere play. Faith in his own gifts stretches far past reason, a blind spot Kakashi later pins as the reason he loses. Recognition means a great deal to him, and when it is withheld he curdles into fury and frantic desperation.

Dōshin's arsenal leans on forbidden arts. He can call up rats wreathed in flame and raise clay copies of whoever stands against him straight out of the ground, rounding this out with illusions that warp how a target reads the terrain. The golem trick is his signature, yet it drains his reserves so quickly that prolonged use leaves him spent.

During the assault on Konohagakure he opened by loosing a swarm of burning rats to set the forest alight and scatter its defenders. When Naruto, Sakura, Sai, Tsukino, and Kakashi reached Tsukigakure, he twisted the surrounding scenery with a genjutsu to send them wandering, but the ruse was spotted at once, so he answered with wave after wave of earthen doubles. Naruto's refusal to flinch at his kinjutsu tipped him into rage. As Kakashi and Sai peeled off the remaining constructs, Kakashi pointed out how ruinous the technique was to his chakra and told him to stop. Instead he forced out still more golems, pushing his body past its breaking point until a final summoning simply failed, and Kakashi finished him.
