Menma pulled her from danger three separate times, once from a bandit's attack, once from a fall at the cliff where her father died, and once during Shiin's return; it was after that final rescue that she found her voice again to warn him of an enemy at his back. Her presence became one of the reasons Menma abandoned the group, and after his sacrifice she called him her big brother.
