Menma Uzumaki

Menma's silhouette matches Naruto's almost exactly, but hatred has drained his hair to black and drawn it into a long, unkempt style like his father's. Shadowed eyes and heavier, more animalistic whisker lines mark his face, and his stomach bears none of the Eight Trigrams sealing that binds Naruto's tenant. He first surfaces hidden as a mysterious 'Masked Man' in a white fox mask, a grey-lined robe with a fur collar, and a ragged cape carrying his crest: a mandala of nine reddish-brown rings clustered over one larger green-grey ring. Once he casts the disguise off, he fights bare-chested in baggy black trousers, opera-length fingerless gloves bound with studded leather, and reddish sandals.

Menma is ruled by ambition, hoarding secret techniques and bloodline abilities in a drive to dominate the ninja world. Killing means nothing to him, and he treats those around him as disposable tools. Arrogance colours his every exchange, and he openly sneers at Sakura during their clash. The very sight of Naruto repulses him, a revulsion that sharpens into murderous intent the moment he realises how alike the two of them truly are. Much of this cruelty springs from the Nine-Tails' hatred within him and from Obito's manipulation.

Menma grows up in the alternate Konoha as the son of that world's Minato and Kushina, both of whom survive the fox's rampage, giving him a warm and stable childhood. He advances through the Academy to genin and chunin, and the Black Nine-Tails is drawn out of Kushina and sealed within him, its power his to command. Only recently does he desert the village to become a missing-nin, kidnapping shinobi who carry rare kekkei genkai until the other villages brand him an S-rank threat. Tobi finds him and offers to lend his own strength, after which Menma downs his world's Yugito Nii and fatally wounds its Jiraiya, who manages to seal the coveted Red Moon Scroll away first.

His fighting style mirrors Naruto's while outstripping it. His Uzumaki blood grants vast stamina and vitality, and with no restraining seal, the Black Nine-Tails' chakra flows without limit. He can loose the fox like a summon, spawn the chakra creatures called the Nine Masked Beasts, and sense the hatred inside others. His arsenal includes personal versions of the Spiralling Ring and its greater form, which he performs without clones, alongside a repulsive shockwave and the power of flight.

In the film he storms the Hokage's office with the Nine Masked Beasts, demands the Red Moon Scroll, overpowers Naruto and Sakura, and carries Sakura off after levelling much of Konoha. His duel with Naruto shatters his mask and exposes him as the true Menma, whereupon he fuses his beasts into the Black Nine-Tails itself. Even the tenant fox, unwilling to be ruled by Tobi, brokers a truce with Naruto, and the pair finally knock Menma down. Tobi then seizes his body to extract Naruto's fox, but Sakura halts the process and Naruto beats the possessed Menma much as Minato once beat Tobi. Freed at last, Menma reverts to his gentler self as Minato and Kushina reach his side.
