Jinpachi Munashi

Jinpachi had long brown hair and a long bead-adorned beard worn in strands, with noticeably dark lips. Bandages wrapped the top of his head, and an eye-patch covered his left eye beneath his Kirigakure forehead protector, while the anime colored his exposed right eye violet. He dressed in an extremely loose, long-sleeved pin-striped shirt with black pants and matching striped leg-warmers, and, like the rest of his generation of swordsmen, wound bandages around his neck. His eye-patch, hairstyle, and beard gave him a strongly piratical look.

Jinpachi reveled in killing and, by the anime's account, had committed many cruelties in his life, including the murder of his own older brother. He showed no regard for his comrades' safety, willing to loose his explosives even at the risk of injuring an ally, and this callousness, shared with Kushimaru, won the pair the nickname of the Heartless Pair from Kakashi. As one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, part of the village's strongest generation, he was among Kirigakure's mightiest shinobi and skilled at Silent Killing.

His weapon was the blastsword Shibuki, a platform-edged blade studded with explosive tags that he combined with expert swordplay to devastating effect. Once a set of tags detonated, an integrated scroll laid down a fresh batch along the edge, letting him strike again and again; the blast could catch a careless user, but Jinpachi's skill kept him clear. In the anime he could stretch this into a long-range explosion and boasted of blowing up a wide area around himself. He also displayed considerable raw strength, shoving back three shinobi who tried to block a single one-handed swing without noticeable effort.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kabuto Yakushi had Pakura and Gari reincarnate the old swordsmen to overwhelm the Third Division. Jinpachi retrieved Shibuki from a scroll carried by Mangetsu Hōzuki and, cloaked in thick mist, cut down his foes and finished them in the ensuing blasts. Zabuza Momochi's defeat scattered the fog and left Jinpachi exposed.

The anime expanded on his fall. When the war's second day dawned, he and Kushimaru resumed their killing spree until Kakashi arrived. Furious that an outsider carried the Kubikiribōchō, Jinpachi set out to reclaim it, sparking a quarrel with his own partner. The two swordsmen leaned on their immortality to press Kakashi until Might Guy joined the fight, and the Konoha pair's teamwork, combined with Jinpachi's constant bickering with Kushimaru, undid them both and they were sealed away. In the manga it is simply noted that he had been sealed before Kakashi and Guy left for Naruto's position. When the Impure World Reincarnation was released, a wash of light enveloped his sealed body and his soul returned to the afterlife.
