History
Convinced that the Hokage's seat lies somewhere in his future, Kōji is reminded by Iruka that stronger grades will have to come first before any such ambition can be realised. In the anime, he joins a squad led by Neji Hyūga for an assignment on Takurami Mountain, where he and the others are impressed watching Neji navigate using only a wristwatch when a compass fails.
During a scare over explosives possibly planted at the Academy, the students are cleared out of their classroom, and Kōji heads to a kunai range with Daichi, Nobori, and several classmates to practise throwing at a wooden block. Naruto Uzumaki, Rock Lee, and Chōji Akimichi interrupt them, suspecting a bomb is hidden inside the wood, a fear that soon proves justified.
