Orphaned and raised in the Land of Silence, Kona was overtaken by Hashirama Senju's cells, which pushed her into a coma. Yubina took her in yet could not fully purge the infection, managing only to slow its advance through fuinjutsu. The turning point came with Mitsuki, whose singular physiology shrugged off the cells; the antibodies drawn from him finally let Yubina bring about a real cure.

History
Once she was back on her feet, Kona returned the kindness by leading Mitsuki into the Land of Silence along a tunnel she knew. Inside, he came upon her brother Katara, who, thankful that Kona had been saved, stepped in to rescue Mitsuki's teammates. They had been set up to take the blame for Sakuya's death, a killing staged so someone could make off with a sample of the First Hokage's cells.
