A small child, Miina wears her hair short around the shoulders with bangs across her brow, gathering a glossy red side ponytail on the right. Her skin is fair and her eyes a pinkish red. During the destruction of her village she is dressed in sleeveless pink pyjamas, and afterward she takes to wearing the brown sleeveless jacket that Dokku wraps around her. Once her link to the Saezuri is broken, her red hair darkens to black.

Sensitive and a touch shy, Miina pours deep affection onto her teacher Dokku and grows upset when her brother Leo swipes a picture she has drawn. Others read this softness in her, with Dokku leaning on her feelings to win her cooperation and Leo covering her eyes from a corpse amid the village ruins. Yet real courage lives beneath the timidity: after only a moment's hesitation she throws herself from her window into Dokku's arms despite her age and the dizzying height, placing her whole trust in him. Kindness comes just as naturally, as when she offers the lonely Leo a place in the row of her new family and lavishes love on all of them. The massacre briefly robs her of speech, and though a slap from Shiseru turns her cold, she comes to forgive her in time.

Miina holds a singular bond with the Saezuri, one piece of her village's treasure, humming the exact tonal patterns needed to quiet the Ama no Hoko and echoing its sounds as it activates, a sharpness that leads Kabuto Yakushi to wonder whether she is something special. Her deeper gift is a form of clairvoyance that lets her perceive facts about events, objects, and people, and above all to sense evil hidden within others; she recognises that her reincarnated grandfather is no longer himself by glimpsing him as a skeleton, and she feels the clone snakes lurking inside Naruto Uzumaki. Beyond sensing, she can cleanse impurity outright, forcing those snakes back out of his body, and she can reach into and steady another's subconscious, helping Naruto reclaim command over the Nine-Tails. Her sight even stretches into what is to come, picturing Naruto cradling her in a Nine-Tails Chakra Mode he has not yet learned to wield. Across the ordeal she uses these powers to rescue the very people who protect her, driving the corruption from Naruto and, at the climax, pulling him free of Kurama's influence so that the seal on his stomach tightens once more.
