Murakumo Kurama

Murakumo has pale, light-coloured eyes set beneath long black hair, and he wears a dark moustache.

He comes across as a tender father, moved to console Yakumo when she despaired of ever becoming a kunoichi and assuring her that a path suited to her still existed.

Murakumo and his wife Uroko had one child, Yakumo, born with the Kurama Clan's full bloodline gift but a fragile body. The clan, once among Konoha's more prominent, had lately produced few shinobi, and Murakumo hoped to reverse that decline by helping his daughter reach her ceiling as a genjutsu user. He went to the Third Hokage to request a dedicated tutor, trusting that a pure focus on illusion could carry her past her weak constitution. As a jonin and head of the main branch, he was surely a capable ninja and, by the clan's reputation, a strong wielder of genjutsu himself.

His life ended when a fire consumed the Kurama household and killed both him and Uroko. The blaze came from Yakumo's own uncontrolled ability, unleashed by the Ido, a hostile second self lurking in her subconscious that turned her power loose without her consent. For a time Yakumo believed the Third Hokage had ordered her parents' deaths before learning the Ido had been the true cause.
