History

A seasoned assassin regarded as one of the village's finest, Raidō backs Konoha with long experience and a poisoned katana called Kokutō, a blade darkened to a non-reflective black. His posting among the Hokage's guards earned him instruction in the Flying Thunder Formation, a space-time technique he performs together with teammates such as Genma Shiranui and Iwashi. During the Chūnin Exams he stayed at the Third Hokage's side, and when the invasion struck he was ambushed by the Sound Four disguised as the Kazekage's escorts; several kunai to the chest left him unconscious, yet he pulled through. Later, on a mission with Genma, the two crossed the Sound Four again, and only by triggering the second stage of their cursed seals could the enemy bring Raidō down.

In the second half of the story Raidō serves in the Nijū Shōtai, moving to support Asuma Sarutobi's team against the Akatsuki pair Hidan and Kakuzu; masked by Aoba's crows, he struck at Kakuzu with his Kokutō and freed Kotetsu and Izumo, then draped his cloak over the fallen Asuma. In the Fourth Shinobi World War he organised the evacuation of the daimyō and stood guard over them with Genma. When Black Zetsu closed in, Raidō joined Mei Terumī's group and used the Flying Thunder God Technique with Genma and Iwashi to ferry Mei to the front. He later gave chase to the reincarnated Mū alongside the other guards, and once the war ended he attended the mass funeral held in Konoha.
