Appearance

Of roughly average height, Rin wore her brown hair in a chin-length bob that framed her face, above matching brown eyes, with a rectangular purple marking on each cheek. Her outfit consisted of a long-sleeved black top over a light purple apron-skirt, with tight black shorts beneath, red thigh-high stockings, sandals, and a small red bracelet on her left wrist, and she carried her gear in a backpack while on missions. In her younger Academy days her hair reached toward her shoulders and she dressed in a simple blouse and haori, while as a genin she wore a light purple, shuriken-patterned outfit over chain-mail armour.

Personality

Gentle and kind, Rin cared deeply for both her comrades and her village, and she often played peacemaker between the squabbling Obito and Kakashi while keeping a level head. Bright and perceptive, she mastered high-level medical ninjutsu at a strikingly young age and kept her wits even under enormous stress, deducing after her capture that returning home would doom Konoha. Her will was formidable enough to hold firm under brutal genjutsu. Though Obito harboured romantic feelings for her, Rin's own affection was for Kakashi, a truth revealed only after Obito was thought lost in the cave-in. Even so, she treasured Obito, championed his dream of becoming Hokage, and never held his later choices against him.

History

Rin spent her earliest years cheering on her friend Obito Uchiha, and she was the one who handed him his entrance papers when he arrived late to the Academy ceremony. After graduating she was placed under Minato Namikaze's tutelage beside Obito and Kakashi Hatake, and as a medic her main role on missions was to support and heal her teammates, drawing on Fire, Water, and Yang Release nature transformations. During the Third Shinobi World War, Team Minato was ordered to destroy the Kannabi Bridge, where Rin was seized by enemy shinobi and interrogated through genjutsu she never broke. Kakashi and Obito rescued her, but Obito was crushed in a collapsing cave, and before he was lost he asked Rin to transplant his Sharingan into Kakashi's damaged eye, a delicate procedure she carried out at once with only basic tools.

Some time afterward, Madara Uchiha, working under the guise of Kirigakure, abducted Rin and sealed Isobu within her, branding her with a curse tag so the beast would erupt inside Konoha upon her return. Realising the trap, and unable to end her own life, she begged Kakashi to kill her to save the village, which he refused, bound by his vow to Obito to protect her. Rin instead threw herself into the path of his Chidori, which had been aimed at an enemy, dying by his hand to keep her home safe. Her sacrifice left the surrounding ninja stunned and both Kakashi and Obito horrified, and Obito responded by slaughtering every foe in sight before vowing to build a world where he and Rin could be together.

Her death rippled outward for years. It awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan in both Kakashi and Obito, sank Kakashi into lasting guilt and nightmares, and drove Obito to embrace hatred and pursue Madara's plan for a new reality. Kakashi tended her grave and confided secrets to her tombstone, unaware Obito listened in. Long after, once Obito died fighting Kaguya Otsutsuki, Rin greeted him in the afterlife, assuring him she had watched over him all along and had waited faithfully for him to join her at last.
