Furido greets Sora with a baked potato, but the scent of disturbed tomb soil marks him as a grave robber, and Sora's sudden attack is easily brushed off. Furido uses a Five Elements Unseal to awaken Sora's hidden power, warping his bandaged arm into a monstrous limb, yet Sora's boosted Beast Tearing Gale Palm is stopped cold by a wind twister. Elsewhere, Fūka tries once more to kiss Naruto, only to strike a shadow clone; the real Naruto counters with Rasengan, which her scattering-flower cyclone tears apart, and he is stunned to see her command all five elemental natures.

Fūka mocks Naruto as a boy ignorant of women and hurls fire, water, and lightning techniques at him before pinning him with another flower cyclone. He answers with a chain of shadow clones, the last of which shears off her hair with a kunai; enraged, she paralyzes him and then unleashes her Execution by Kiss. Racing to reach Naruto and Sora, Sakura and Sai are slowed when Sora's poison flares, and Sai's claim that showing weakness deepens bonds only irritates Sakura. Finding Naruto locked in the kiss, she moves to attack Fūka but is repelled and caught by Yamato.

Fudō and Fuen arrive, and Fudō's Rock Pillar Prison Technique traps the trio. Furido claims the stolen corpses will serve the Land of Fire and reveals he once held Sora as an infant and knew his father, but a vision of Naruto in agony alongside the Nine-Tails sends Sora rushing off to help him. As Fūka drains Naruto's chakra, she swallows the fox's malevolent power, and the foul taste breaks her jutsu. Sora reaches Naruto just as Chiriku and the monks blast the cave open, and the grave robbers withdraw. Once the group returns to the Fire Temple, Yamato asks Sora to join Team Yamato in place of the injured Sai.
