Episode 217 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations sees Naruto's new Baryon Mode overwhelm Isshiki, revealing a hidden cost that drains the enemy's lifespan even as it burns through Naruto's own.
Both Sasuke and Isshiki are caught off guard by the power Naruto has unlocked. Passing Boruto to Sasuke with a chakra tail, Naruto keeps his movements sparse as Kurama coaches him on stretching out Baryon Mode's short window. He hurls Isshiki's own Disruption Cubes back at him, catches the chakra rods that Sasuke can barely follow with his Sharingan, and lands a Rasengan through a fire blast. Far away in Konoha, Amado is unsettled to learn Kawaki's prosthetic runs on Naruto's shared chakra, and Kawaki grows anxious as he feels that chakra weakening.
Isshiki assumes the life-shortening strain means Naruto has lost his gamble, then starts coughing blood in confusion. Kurama explains the trap, that because all chakra is linked, every contact during the fight has been bleeding Isshiki's own life away, leaving him only minutes. Sensing the chakra Naruto shares with Kawaki, Isshiki opens a rift to yank the boy to the battlefield. After Isshiki stomps Naruto out of Baryon Mode and seizes Kawaki, Sasuke swaps places with the boy using Amenotejikara and hides him behind a special smoke bomb that blocks perception techniques.
Isshiki floods the area with chakra rods and threatens to kill Naruto unless Kawaki surrenders. Remembering both his years fleeing Jigen and his time with Naruto, Kawaki steps into the open to give himself up. The installment adapts chapters 52 and 53, sits in the Kawaki arc, and is the first entry in the franchise to place its title card at the very end rather than the start.
