Hate Among the Uchihas: The Last of the Clan!

Gama intercepts Kisame's would-be killing blow, and Jiraiya scoffs that a cheap ruse like placing a young woman under genjutsu will never fool him. Rising again, Sasuke tells Naruto to keep out of his fight but is swiftly beaten down by Itachi, who declares his brother still too weak and lacking hatred. To force him stronger, Itachi triggers Tsukuyomi, making Sasuke relive the slaughter of their parents and clan. As Naruto charges to help, Kisame moves to strike, but Jiraiya deploys the Summoning: Toad Mouth Bind to snare both Akatsuki members.

The surroundings become the gullet of the Mountain Toad, and Kisame's foot and blade begin dissolving into the flesh as Jiraiya explains his jutsu; Sasuke is drawn safely into the wall, out of Itachi's reach. Itachi burns an escape hole through the toad's throat with Amaterasu, and the pair flee, after which Jiraiya seals away the black flames, noting how potent the technique must be. While Jiraiya and Naruto check on Sasuke, Guy bursts in and lands a Dynamic Entry kick to the Sannin's face, having misjudged the dull reflection off his forehead protector and assumed the two figures ahead were Itachi and Kisame. Naruto vows to hunt the Akatsuki down for what they did to Sasuke, but Jiraiya bluntly tells him he is far outmatched. Learning that Kakashi was struck by the same technique, Guy stresses that a medical specialist is needed for Kakashi, Sasuke and Lee alike. Jiraiya reveals that the very person they have been searching for, the legendary slug-summoning healer Tsunade, is exactly who they require.

When Itachi uses Amaterasu, his eyes stay as the ordinary three-tomoe Sharingan rather than changing, because Masashi Kishimoto had not yet designed the Mangekyō Sharingan when the episode first aired. It adapts chapters 147 and 148, premiered in Japan on May 26, 2004, and aired in English on April 28, 2007, using the opening GO!!! and the ending Many Times Before.
