Chiyo trades her life force to pull Sakura back from the brink and pins Sasori with his own parents' puppets. In his final moments the Akatsuki puppeteer hands over a lead on Orochimaru, then chooses, for once, not to dodge.
Poison from the blade lodged in her torso keeps Sakura from mending herself, so Chiyo, herself lightly poisoned, spends the antidote on the girl and restores her strength. Sasori peels away from the sword to reveal a hidden joint blade and lunges for the kill, but Chiyo drives the Father and Mother puppets through his core, freezing him in place. With Sasori immobilized she pours her One's Own Life Reincarnation into the nearly dead Sakura; because Sakura still clings to life, the technique revives her without costing Chiyo her own.
Sasori marvels that the two would risk everything for each other, admitting he places no value on the thousands of lives he has ended. Chiyo lays that coldness at the feet of Suna's teachings, where shinobi learn to look only to themselves. Restored, Sakura lands a blow, though Sasori feels nothing as a puppet and mocks their pointless devotion. Then he does something pointless of his own: as a reward for his defeat, he discloses a meeting with a spy of his, one working for Orochimaru, set a week later at the Tenchi Bridge in Kusagakure. He predicts he will not make the rendezvous and dies before finishing the thought.

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
Sakura is relieved the fight is over, but Chiyo tells her she should have been the one to fall; Sasori could always read Chiyo's movements and saw the strike coming, yet for a single unguarded instant he let it land. Far off, Naruto and Kakashi keep after Deidara, and when Naruto asks about the long-range technique, Kakashi answers by revealing his Mangekyō Sharingan. The episode adapts chapters 274 and 275.
