Team 7's Last Mission?!

With the promotion ceremony three days off, Sarada studies her new flak jacket while Sakura points out how the squad will shift once she leads it and Konohamaru no longer has to watch over them. Sarada hands paperwork to Boruto and Mitsuki, yet she chafes at losing Konohamaru from the team. Hoping to mark her advancement, the three go looking for him, only to learn from Sai and Shikamaru that he is away guarding a married couple, Shobu and Yomogi, who are inspecting a future home alongside Mirai. That night Sarada's low mood does not escape Sasuke and Sakura, and her father offers her guidance on how to face the change.

Mirai staggers back to the village battered and poisoned, and Sakura treats her while Sai reports she returned without Konohamaru. He has been captured and beaten by Hyogo, a notorious rogue ninja out of Kusagakure who now rules the mountain settlement by scaring off outsiders rather than merely hiding. Hyogo means to wring intelligence about the Leaf's sensing network from his prisoner. Once Mirai wakes and relays the crisis, Naruto grants Team 7's plea to head out, reasoning their bond with Konohamaru will smooth the rescue and give them closure.

Reaching the village, the trio finds the locals cooperating with the bandits, likely hostages, and Konohamaru holding firm under interrogation. When Hyogo threatens to torture the couple instead, Boruto slips in disguised as a lost female traveller to stall him. A dense fog descends, letting Team 7 dismantle Hyogo's men and free the captives, doing everything Konohamaru himself had planned. As Hyogo flees under cover of the mist, Mitsuki's snake pinpoints his path, and Boruto and Sarada hurl Konohamaru forward to plant a Rasengan on him. Moved by this last outing together, the group helps rebuild the settlement before returning home, where Naruto formally installs the new chunin as captains and Team 7 poses for a photograph.

Sarada prepares to take over as captain of Team 7 ahead of the chunin ceremony. Konohamaru is captured by the missing-nin Hyogo while guarding a couple, and Mirai barely escapes to raise the alarm. Team 7 deploys with Naruto's blessing, exploits a thick fog to overwhelm the bandits and free the hostages, and finishes Hyogo with a thrown Rasengan. The village is restored, Naruto appoints the graduates as team leaders, and the squad takes a commemorative team photo.

This is episode 227 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, set inside the Chunin Re-Examination Arc. It premiered in Japan on 5 December 2021 and aired in English on 13 June 2023. The opening theme is Reckless and the ending theme is Prologue. According to the episode's trivia, Shobu and Yomogi, the couple under Konohamaru's protection, go uncredited despite their brief speaking parts.
