The Blue Beast vs. Six Paths Madara

Reaching Sasuke, Orochimaru's group discovers that the strange chakra they sensed belongs to Kabuto, whose signature has grown unreadable from all the people he absorbed into himself, which is why Karin could never place the presence near Sasuke. Kabuto explains that, after the Izanami forced him to confront who he truly is, he has chosen to protect Sasuke. Far away, Guy unleashes the Gate of Wonder and finds it powerless to hurt Madara. With the Seventh Gate spent, Guy understands that only the Gate of Death remains, an act that will end his own life.

Facing that choice, Guy remembers his childhood alongside his father Might Duy. Having failed to graduate, the young Guy set out to run five hundred laps so he could enter the Academy as an alternate, but his body gave out before he finished and he passed out while the Third Hokage looked on from a window. When Guy apologized to his father, Duy scolded him for lacking faith. Later, incensed at hearing his father mocked, Guy attacked two older ninja and was badly beaten, until Kakashi intervened and drove the pair off. Guy could only watch Kakashi walk away with his own father, Sakumo.

The mystery chakra beside Sasuke is confirmed as Kabuto, whose absorptions have scrambled his signature, and he pledges to save Sasuke after the Izanami changed him. Guy's Gate of Wonder fails against Madara, leaving only the fatal Gate of Death. An extended flashback covers Guy's failed Academy attempt, his father's insistence on faith, and the early moment Kakashi stepped in to protect him.

The episode belongs to the Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchuriki arc and adapts chapters 667 and 668. It aired in Japan on July 2, 2015, and in English on January 9, 2018. Its opening theme is Wind and its ending theme is Rainbow's Sky.
