The Village Hidden in the Leaves

Boruto rattles off all the ways the village looks different, while Sasuke turns over Urashiki's remark about harvesting the fox's chakra. Karasuki startles Boruto with word that they have drifted off the time-jump coordinates Urashiki set, and confirms to Sasuke that being split off will land Urashiki in the past a few days behind them. The puppet also cautions against reshaping the future by meddling with the present, so the pair swap into plainer clothes to avoid notice.

Boruto marvels that there is no Lightning Burger and that Ramen Ichiraku is only a modest stand. When they run into Sakura, Sasuke has to stop Boruto from blurting out a question about Naruto's whereabouts, insisting they heed Karasuki's warning even as Boruto argues a meeting is inevitable. Sasuke prefers to observe Naruto from afar, but Boruto promptly collides with the boy himself.

Boruto nearly lets a "dad" slip, though Naruto is too distracted by Jiraiya, who is fleeing a mob that caught him peeping. Jiraiya shakes them by handing Boruto his binoculars, but he and Naruto are still caught and thrashed by Tsunade, then forced to apologise. Questioned about who they are, Sasuke claims he and Boruto are travelling entertainers who use simple ninjutsu in their act. Tsunade decides they must be kept under watch, since a genin has lately abandoned the village and security is tightened, and she assigns Naruto and Jiraiya to the task.

Jiraiya balks until Boruto sways him with the Sexy Technique, then offloads the whole job onto Naruto the moment Tsunade departs. Meeting Sakura again, Sasuke slips away to keep his distance, and she notes with irritation how alike he and Boruto seem, while spotting that Naruto is only trailing one person, leaving him fearful of Tsunade's wrath.

Naruto brings Boruto back to his home to keep an eye on him, and over dinner Boruto notices habits his father would carry into adulthood. Unable to sleep, Boruto answers Naruto's questions about his family, carefully dancing around the truth that this boy is his father. Sasuke's cover as a travelling performer echoes his earlier run-in with the Lightning Group, who had used the same claim. The episode is part of the Time Slip arc of the Boruto anime.
