Kabuto finds it darkly funny that Sasuke now stands beside the brother he once meant to slay. Angling to recruit him, he argues that both of them want Konoha destroyed, but Sasuke rejects the notion that their aims align. Kabuto reflects on his years spying for the Leaf and frames himself and Itachi as mirror images, two men who served faithfully and were repaid with shame. Itachi counters that he is still the village's own, dark deeds and contradictions and all.

Setting the argument aside, Itachi speaks of Izanami, a jutsu that fixes destiny itself, and names it as the means to halt both Kabuto and his Impure World Reincarnation. Kabuto renews his attack with Sage Art: Inorganic Reincarnation, turning the cavern's rock against the brothers, and reaches to overwrite Itachi's mind with a talisman, only for Sasuke's Amaterasu to stop him. Boasting that no one stands closer to the Sage of the Six Paths, Kabuto begins mocking the Uchiha name until Sasuke cuts him off, and Itachi remarks that the young man mirrors his own former self.

Episode 335 of Shippuden sits within the Climax phase of the Fourth Shinobi World War and draws from chapters 581 and 582. Its closing beat turns to Kabuto's past as an orphan raised by Nono at the Konoha Orphanage, a boy who never knew who he was and grew up with nothing. The episode aired in Japan on October 24, 2013, and in English on March 4, 2016, with the opening "Size of the Moon" and the ending "Black Night Town."
