Overview

The Sensor Division brought together shinobi with exceptional sensory talents to support the Allied Shinobi Forces during their campaign against Akatsuki. Captained by Ao, the unit's purpose was to feel out enemy movements before the main army could be caught off guard.

Role

Shortly after the unit came together, Ao steadied a jittery C by reminding him that their work, small as it might seem, could tip the whole war one way or the other. C then marched out with much of the division alongside the bulk of the Allied forces, while Ao stayed behind to finish a vast detection barrier with help from the Intelligence Division's Inoichi Yamanaka. Acting on intelligence relayed by the fallen Muta Aburame, Ao angled the barrier downward and stretched its reach, laying bare the White Zetsu Army's hidden underground advance and warning the alliance of the danger.

When the Fourth Division reported four formidable newcomers, Ao reasoned that the enemy fielded someone able to slip past his sensing entirely. With so many foes converging on the First Division at once, telling individual targets apart grew nearly impossible, so he handed off broad detection to another sensor and focused on sifting out the White Zetsu himself. In doing so he flagged a wave of notorious reincarnated shinobi bearing down on Darui, among them two brothers whose immense chakra reserves had been tainted by the Nine-Tails. Later, when the Ten-Tails was revived, a Tailed Beast Ball struck the alliance's headquarters and apparently wiped out its central sensing apparatus, leaving Ao the sole survivor at the cost of two limbs.
