Routine keeps a level head, staying calm when circumstances grow tense. She is courteous toward those above her, as her apology to Denken shows, and she sticks closely to orders, obeying Wolf's instruction not to act on her own. Sharp and cautious, she sizes up dangerous foes like Frieren and Sense at once. Iris finds her dreary, yet a harsher edge surfaces too: she agrees that a mission with lives on the line is thrilling, and Denken recalls that she once ran wild during the fighting in the north.

Routine was born in the Lorbeer Domain at the Empire's far north, and at some point she fought in a northern war, where she reportedly went on a rampage. During the events around the Foundation Festival, she hears from Iris about the new order to assassinate the Great Mage Serie and passes word to the priest Clematis. The following day, Denken stops at her library to return a borrowed book. When she lets slip an awareness that he comes from Weise, she apologizes for the overstep, and he good-naturedly shares what he knows of her origins and her taste for fortune-telling. Asked what future she had read, she admits she had expected an unremarkable day and been proven wrong.

At the Shadow Warriors' final gathering she receives the mission roster, and the names of Sense and Frieren tell her they face daunting opposition. She and Iris are assigned to watch the underground tunnel running to the capital's palace, a route she patrols regularly. Finding its midpoint flooded, likely from snowmelt, the two report to Clematis that it cannot be used. Little is documented about her combat, but as a Shadow Warrior she is presumed to excel at strength, speed, mana suppression, and fighting mages, and her swift reflexes let her snatch an arrow from the air when Iris springs a trap.
