Key Events

Fass leads the travelers toward an inscription left behind by Milliarde, a site he reached through a tunnel he excavated himself after teaching his own hands the craft of mining. The detour places the group among the Norm Company's miners and staff, putting the harsh realities of supply and trade across the plateau at the center of the story.

Notes

The adaptation makes several additions to the source material. It christens the Bier Region tavern with an original name, the Three Spikes of Barley, and inserts a brief sequence showing Fass figuring out how to mine on his own. The passage he dug toward Milliarde's record is rendered narrower than in print, forcing the party to stoop as they move through it. A remembered exchange in which Heiter asks why Frieren avoided seeking out Boshaft is relocated as well, trading its original urban backdrop for fields of grain and farmland.
