Summary

With the culprit identified, Frieren's companions and Genau's party merge into a single unit and lay out how they intend to run down Revolte and the demons working alongside him. Genau, however, elects to remain at the ravaged village to watch over the residents' bodies until soldiers from Norm can arrive to recover them.

That choice plays straight into Revolte's hands. The demon grasps how much humans prize their funeral rites and the way grief pushes people toward decisions that defy cold logic, so he had already predicted the group would fracture for exactly this reason.

Key Events

As the others prepare to move out, Stark decides to stay behind and defend the corpses at Genau's side, unwilling to leave the mage exposed should the demons double back. Genau argues that he can manage alone and that Stark would be more useful fighting beside Frieren, but the warrior holds firm, insisting the hunt can succeed without him. Frieren raises no objection.

Frieren, Fern, and Methode then set out together after the demons, who are believed to be holed up in a nearby bastion, the sort of fortified spot the creatures tend to favor.
