The ninety-first chapter of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End follows Macht's calculated rise inside Weise after the Demon King falls. Charm, a staged battle against his own kind, and a grieving boy named Denken all become pieces in Glück's design to teach a demon the meaning of good and evil.
With the Demon King newly defeated, Glück lays out the public role he wants Macht to play, winning over the nobles of Weise as the family's personal mage and a symbol of the new peace. The lord intends to school the demon in justice and evil while spending his power, trusting that a being naturally gifted at gaining human trust can secure useful alliances. Presented openly to the city, Macht spends years mingling with the aristocracy until they grow to value him, though their trust stays guarded.
To test that loyalty, the nobles ask Macht to repel a surviving band sent from the Demon King's army toward Weise. Holding no loyalty to anyone, he annihilates them with ease, recognizing among the dying the Demon General Schräg and remarking that the leaderless demons have grown pathetic without their king. His victory earns the citizens' applause and cements his standing.
Macht later offers to serve as a teacher of magic, explaining that he learned human spells from the researcher Solitär. Though wary, Glück agrees and brings him to a church where Denken, an orphaned relative whose parents were slain by demons, prays in grief. Ordered to instruct the boy as a distraction from his loss, Macht introduces himself afterward as the Glück family's magic instructor. Denken refuses to trust a demon yet still becomes his pupil, asking whether he might one day grow strong enough to kill his teacher, to which Macht only smiles.
Macht is formally installed as House Glück's mage and integrates into Weise's nobility. He proves himself by wiping out the Demon King's surviving soldiers, slaying the Demon General Schräg in the process, and then takes on the grieving boy Denken as a magic student under Glück's orders.
Released April 27, 2022, the chapter is titled Onstage and belongs to volume ten of The Golden Land arc. It introduces the Demon General Schräg and reveals that Macht claims mastery of Zoltraak, a spell he credits to an old acquaintance among demons. Glück frames their arrangement as one he will honor until Macht grasps good and evil, even pledging to follow the demon to hell itself.
