Kagura's Mother

Middle-aged and fair-skinned, she bears an unmistakable resemblance to Kagura. Light brown hair reaches the nape of her neck, with long bangs draping across her forehead and framing her face. Her eyes share that same pale coloring, and she is usually seen wearing lipstick.

Calm, serious, and level-headed, she balances that steadiness with genuine care as a mother. Her daughter's curse and destructive fits, which routinely wreck parts of the house, leave her unruffled; she meets the wreckage with a weary but easygoing patience born of how often it happens. She also extends understanding to Isuzu, granting the distant, guarded girl the room she needs rather than pressing her.

Kagura recalls that her parents quarreled constantly during her early years, likely strained by raising a cursed Zodiac daughter, and that her mother wept after every argument. The couple appears to have worked past those troubles, since they remain together and devoted to Kagura. At some point the pair took in Isuzu after the girl's own parents cut ties with her.

During one summer she asks whether Kagura has been fighting with Rin again, noting how headstrong and remote the girl still is despite years together. She warns Kagura to stay away from the Sohma cottage because Akito is there and she fears for her daughter's safety, adding that Shigure had invited Akito; the news so frustrates Kagura that she smashes the front door yet again. Later, when Kagura returns home in tears after a painful talk with Kyo, her mother longs to comfort her, though Kagura, grateful yet unwilling to accept anyone's pity, keeps that consolation at arm's length.
