Kinu Sohma

Tall and fair-skinned with a somewhat boyish face, Kinu takes clearly after her father, sharing his angular features and purple eyes. Her long, straight light brown hair comes instead from her mother, and she wears it loose or gathered into a low, careless ponytail.

She is fond of sleeping and drifting through the day at her own pace, an easygoing and detached sort with little urgency about her.

When Mitoma first visits the Sohma house, Kinu rouses herself to greet the newcomer and her relatives, and she later chats with the high-school Sohmas about their school days before Michi turns the question toward her college life.

She lives with Hajime and Mutsuki, who both regard her as an older sister and call her 'Kinu-nee.' In practice Hajime shoulders most of the housework, and the boys support her studies, aware of how often she is worn out; even so, they treat her as the dependable adult of the household and turn to her for advice. Though her father is a doctor and her mother a teacher, Kinu has no wish to follow either path.
