Alarm spreads through the family when no one can locate Rin, who never came back from the hospital. As Hiro's confession, Kureno's search, and Haru's rage converge, the truth of Rin's imprisonment surfaces, and the episode builds to Haru carrying her back from the brink.

Hiro, unsettled to hear Rin has not returned, meets Kisa and later runs into Haru, confessing that he saw Akito shove Rin from a window over their relationship and that he stayed silent too long. He reveals Rin broke up with Haru because she is trying to end the curse for his sake, and begs Haru to stop her. Meanwhile Kureno follows a servant carrying food to the Cat's Room; she admits the prisoner has gone days without eating and, fearing for the person's life, hands over the key. Kureno opens the door to find a ragged Rin locked within.

Haru storms into Akito's room demanding answers, and when she denies everything and tries to twist his words, he punches the door and shouts that he loves Rin. Kureno enters to report that Hatori has taken Rin to the hospital and her life is safe, then tells Akito that whoever she is, she cannot do such things. As the bond between Akito and Haru starts to fray, Haru pins her to the wall, recalls comforting Rin after a nightmare, and strikes the beam beside her head instead of her face before leaving. Akito collapses into a violent fit, crying out for her dead father.

Rin flees the hospital, remembering how Ren offered to help her break the curse in exchange for stealing a box from Akito, and how Akito imprisoned her, cut her hair, and left her to choose death over exile so Haru would not be blinded. Hallucinating back in the Cat's Room, she wishes to dream of Haru, and when he appears and tells her she can come home if her journey is done, she believes it a kind dream. He insists it is real, lifts her into his arms, and promises never to give up on her. Sobbing, Rin tells him she is home, and he welcomes her back.

The title is taken from a line of Rin's. Adapting chapters 115, 104, 105, and 106, the episode reorders its opening: Kureno bringing water to Akito and confirming her father's ashes in the box was moved up from chapter 115, displacing the chapter 104 scene of the servant leaving food at the Cat's Room. The red rope picturing the curse unraveling was an anime addition, as was every scene of Hatori caring for Rin, and her hair is left messier and longer on screen than in the source.
