Kagura's holiday plans sweep Kyo, Yuki, and Tohru into a double date none of them quite bargained for, while Shigure busies himself with quiet scheming of his own back at home.
Kyo jolts awake from a bad dream and heads off to school without eating, then tries to slip away the moment he realizes Valentine's Day is almost here. Kagura corners him at Shigure's house with an invitation to spend the day together, and when he turns her down she proposes bringing Tohru and Yuki along to make it a double date. Once the arrangement is set and Kagura goes, Shigure steers the talk toward Yuki, and the needling sends Kyo storming off.
Valentine's Day arrives and the foursome sets out on their outing. While the young ones are away, Shigure calls on Hatori and reminisces about Tohru and the dreams the two men once held in their younger years. As evening falls, Tohru is introduced to Mitsuru, Shigure's put-upon editor, who is exasperated by what he views as the author's chronic idleness.

"It's Valentine's, After All" is the tenth episode of the first season of the 2019 Fruits Basket anime and adapts chapters 15 and 16 of the manga, taking its title from one of Kagura's lines.
