With exams wrapping up, Momiji whisks Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo off to a hot spring. Tohru stays cagey about money, which leads the Sohma boys to suspect she spent her own wages on the Valentine's chocolates she handed out. Once they arrive, Tohru unwinds while Momiji spins a grim tale about a traveler whose generosity got her stripped of everything by strangers and then devoured by demons who exploited that same kindness.

The inn's hostess mentions her own child, the Monkey of the zodiac, and voices hope the two might become friends. Momiji also drops the news that he and Hatsuharu will soon enroll at Tohru's high school as incoming first years, leaving Tohru stunned to learn Momiji is only a single year her junior.

The trip doubles as Momiji's White Day gift to Tohru, repaying the chocolates she scrimped to afford. At the spring the group settles into games and quiet moments, Kyo turning even table tennis into a contest, before the hostess reveals her connection to the family and her son's place among the zodiac. The revelation that Momiji and Haru share Tohru's grade caps the visit.

Tohru supplies the line that becomes the title, and the outing brings Okami Sohma into the anime for the first time. The closing shot swaps the usual tree background for Tohru's and Yuki's hands drawn near each other. The adaptation reworks a long list of small details, relocating who scrubs floors at Tohru's workplace, redesigning the demons in Momiji's story to look grander, altering the characters' clothing at the springs, and turning several manga reactions into simpler staging. It covers chapters 17 and 18.
