Parent-teacher meetings about life after graduation ripple through the class, drawing out anxieties that each student has been carrying. Arisa toys with modeling, Saki simply wants a diploma, and Tohru hopes to find steady work and move out on her own. The day's real weight, though, falls on Yuki, forced once more to face a mother who has never let his words reach her, and on Kyo, staring down a future he cannot picture.

Shigure arrives at Tohru's conference in a suit borrowed from Hatori, needling his old flame Mayuko with talk of marriage until both women are stunned. Once Tohru steps out, he confesses he has fallen for Mayu again, though she reads it as cruelty and orders him to hold Tohru to a higher standard of care, a jab that echoes an earlier warning from Rin. Outside, Arisa tells a distracted Tohru that fixing her eyes on the present eases the fear of what lies ahead, wisdom Tohru realizes Shigure had already given her.

Kyo, joined by Kazuma, admits he cannot see himself in college or an office, and afterward aches to spend his remaining time with Tohru. Yuki's conference turns bitter when his mother dismisses the meeting and insists she has already chosen his schools. Ayame sweeps in with roses, and Yuki watches in surprise as their mother's control over his brother crumbles. When she calls Ayame useless and says she regrets ever bearing them, Yuki defends the brother who stood by him, then chases her into the hall.

Grasping his mother's thin shoulder, Yuki tells her he will build his own life and pick his own colleges whether or not she values him. Ayame, meanwhile, confides his guilt that his own oddness once made their mother harder on Yuki. Buoyed by the courage Tohru's words gave him, Yuki smiles at her before Naohito drags him off to the student council, where the emergency turns out to be Ayame dropping in to address the members.

The episode adapts chapters seventy-one and seventy-two, directed for the dub by Caitlin Glass with Shawn Gann assisting and scripted by Bonny Clinkenbeard. Its openings and endings are Home and Eden, and the title borrows a line from Yuki. Several manga beats were dropped or resequenced, among them a dinner scene with Tohru, Kyo, and Yuki and a lighter version of Shigure's disheveled hair at the conference.
