Storch

Storch is a career soldier of the Amestrian State Military who holds the rank of lieutenant colonel and keeps his post in Central City. What marks him is his job rather than any memorable look, since he stands beside the Führer as his private secretary.

By every sign he is a rule-following functionary, bent on keeping the Führer's business in order and shielding Central Command. An early scene shows him and a cluster of other soldiers scolding a young Edward for a reckless display during his alchemy exam, prepared to fail the boy outright for his cockiness.

Storch's run as Bradley's secretary ends when the job is handed to Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, a shuffle that lets the Führer keep tabs on her and the rest of Mustang's people. He shows up in person to deliver her fresh orders, with Yakovlev of Internal Affairs at his side, and he also turns up at Southern Command while Edward is there. During the uprising he leads Central troops toward Central Command to back Bradley in his lone stand against the Briggs soldiers and the Homunculus Greed, but as his men are cut apart, Fu clubs him from behind and lays him out cold. Hauled in afterward and questioned over the alleged coup, the ex-aide is handed a bargain by the colonel's people so that his sworn testimony frames Mustang and Major General Armstrong favorably. The 2009 anime gives his part in the last battle to an officer called Gamelan and cuts the deal from the story.
