The Oath in the Tunnel

Lan Fan and Ling press their assault on Gluttony, keeping the homunculus too busy regenerating to hit back, while nearby Fu explains to Edward how the Dragon's Pulse lets Xingese warriors sense chi and see through the dark. Fu has tracked the massive energy of Greed and Gluttony to this spot and detects two further presences, Pride locked with Heinkel and the enormous signature of Hohenheim. Realizing that Fu's arsenal can counter Pride, Edward rushes to relieve the exhausted Heinkel and deflects the killing blow just in time.

In the capital, Madame Christmas hands Mustang photographs proving Selim Bradley is no child, since he appears unchanged beside government dignitaries across decades, and she confirms the Fuhrer has no true hometown or family. Government agents then destroy her bar, but she and Mustang, revealed as her foster son, slip away through the sewers. He promises to rebuild her livelihood before joining Hawkeye, Breda, and Fuery in an abandoned mineshaft, where they resolve to press forward with their coup despite the heightened alert.

Edward holds off Pride with his carbon-fiber northern automail, reinforced to mimic the Ultimate Shield, and foils the homunculus's attempt to hijack Alphonse's armor with a Xingese flash grenade from Fu. Cornered and running low on lives, Pride kills and devours Gluttony to absorb his Stone and his sense of smell, then catches the scent of Hohenheim near Alphonse and Darius. At Central Command, Olivier guesses that Mustang will kidnap Mrs. Bradley, and Father dismisses the notion as useless just as the colonel's team halts her car and takes her into custody.

Fu and Lan Fan reinforce the battle in Kanama, and Fu's chi-sensing exposes the positions of Pride, Gluttony, and Hohenheim. Madame Christmas gives Mustang proof of Selim's inhuman nature before her bar is destroyed and she flees, and Mustang regroups with his loyalists underground to commit to the coup. Pride devours Gluttony to survive, gaining his Stone and keen smell, and locks onto Hohenheim's scent. Mustang's team abducts Mrs. Bradley from her car despite Father's belief that she is worthless as a hostage.

The chapter adapts An Oath Made in the Underground, and its title card carries Mustang's flame alchemy array. As with several earlier installments, the Adult Swim broadcast cut the closing segment in which Mustang and his team seize Mrs. Bradley from her car.
