Yumi Kakazu

Yumi Kakazu has voiced Yuffie Kisaragi in the Final Fantasy VII franchise, Jasmine, the Olivine City Gym Leader, in the Pokemon anime, and Mint Aizawa in Tokyo Mew Mew, alongside her role as Lyra in the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime. Her anime work spans three decades across television, video games, and dubbing.

Kakazu has built her career largely around teenage and young adult female characters, and in 2005 she took over the role of Shizuka Minamoto in the long-running Doraemon series. That specialization runs through much of her three-decade filmography.

Kakazu voiced Lyra in the original 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime, a young alchemist who takes work as a maid for the reclusive researcher Dante while chasing her own dream of becoming a State Alchemist. Partway through the series Lyra becomes Dante's latest host body, and Kakazu had to carry both personas in a single voice, shifting from Lyra's naive warmth to Dante's cold, calculating menace.

Yumi Kakazu, born in 1973 in Saitama Prefecture, debuted in anime in 1996. That debut launched a career now spanning three decades.

Beyond television anime, Kakazu's three decades of work span video games and dubbing roles. Her stretch across mediums includes voicing Yuffie Kisaragi in the Final Fantasy VII video game franchise.
