Mask De Masculine

Mask is a towering, heavily muscled figure dressed in the Sternritter uniform, over which he wears a luchador's mask in yellow and red-orange that swallows most of his head. The mask leaves his cleft chin, nose, and blonde mustache uncovered, bears a star across the forehead, and is lined with heavy markings around the eyes and cheeks. His gloves and boots are red, his eyes brown, and in place of the standard belt he sports a wrestling champion's belt whose round buckle carries the Wandenreich crest.

Mask casts himself as a champion of justice, a heroic luchador out to purge the Shinigami he brands as wicked cowards. Pompous to the core, he strikes exaggerated muscle poses to trumpet his victories and craves a live crowd to witness them. He is devoted to his partner James and flew into a rage when Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi cut the man down, yet his self-regard runs so deep that he cheerfully catches James in his own blast radius, shrugging that his fan will simply revive.

For all his bluster he is often ignorant of basic facts, such as believing only captains could achieve Bankai, but in the thick of battle he proves sharp and ruthless, going so far as to burst his own eardrums the instant he realizes an enemy's power depends on sound.

Even unaided, Mask fights at a captain's level, overpowering Renji Abarai during the first Wandenreich invasion. He absorbs ambient Reishi like any Quincy but battles exclusively with his fists and feet, favoring wrestling moves and a roster of self-made techniques such as the Star Eagle Kick, Star Headbutt, and Star Rocket Punch. He is also deceptively quick with Hirenkyaku and tough enough to seize a released Zanpakutō bare-handed.

His true engine is the shared Schrift The Superstar, triggered whenever James cheers for him. Those cheers heal his wounds and pile boost after boost onto his strength, speed, and stamina, letting him rebound from a beating to hurl two captains aside at once. The pair are joined by a life link: James revives endlessly so long as Mask lives, and Mask keeps recovering so long as James keeps cheering, so the only way to end him is to down both at the same moment. Fully charged, he swells into a bulkier form and can fire the star-shaped Star Flash or the ten-times-stronger Star Satsujin Punch.

With enough cheering he unlocks Quincy: Vollständig, gaining a starry halo, a winged cape, and crimson Reiatsu, and can drop his ultimate Star Flash: Super Nova, a colossal pentagram-shaped explosion. Even so, his power fails him against Renji Abarai, who exploits the life link by cutting James down first and then incinerating Mask with Sōō Zabimaru, Zaga Teppō.
