Obsidian is an American double agent in Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, embedded inside a cell of former athletes turned militants. He feeds intelligence to the Major's GHOST team from within the target building, then bails to the rooftop as the mission ignites into open combat.
Obsidian slicks his black hair straight back and matches it with a dark mustache and goatee, a small mole marking the right corner of his lip. He layers a tactical supply vest across a forest-green dress shirt and completes the look with navy jeans and black boots.
Obsidian plays the seasoned professional but bristles the moment he is questioned. Pressed on why he never risked a peek inside their shadowy financier's cyberbrain, he grows defensive and steers the conversation back to the job, insisting that neutralizing the terrorists is the only thing that matters.
As the operation opens, Obsidian waits inside the terrorists' stronghold while Ishikawa surveys the structure from a neighboring rooftop and the Major confirms the go-ahead over the radio. Once Batou and Stan slip in under thermoptic camouflage and drop the two guards, they link up with him. When Stan remarks that the gunmen look far too old to pass for students, Obsidian lays out their history and points to their generous patron, Patrick Huge, who supplied both their arsenal and a tank stashed in the garage. He admits he never spoke with that backer or learned his identity, though he wishes he had managed to probe the man's mind.
Judging the third-floor stairwell a safe exit, Obsidian breaks off with the Major's blessing and word of a Tachikoma waiting for him on the roof. A crate near the landing then unfolds into a robotic attack dog and scatters the group, driving him upward to the rooftop, where a terrorist-piloted drone fires a missile at him and the waiting Tachikoma.
