Yuki Yoshikawa

Yoshikawa is an endearing girl of roughly average height, with gold hair cut to around the nape of her neck and bangs split down the middle so that two strands frame her face. She has fair skin and wide yellow eyes. Her usual outfit is the school uniform: a white button-up beneath an oversized coffee-brown cardigan whose sleeves have gone noticeably baggy, paired with a pleated black skirt, knee-high black socks, and brown loafers. Those droopy sleeves come from her habit of tugging on them, and like Hori she keeps gym shorts on under her skirt.

Yoshikawa is known above all for a cheerful, happy-go-lucky nature. Much like her close friend Hori, she brings a lively energy to whoever she is around, and her easygoing, down-to-earth manner lets her strike up a friendship with just about anyone, Miyamura included. She is also a bit of a slacker where school is concerned, prone to dozing off in class and leaning on Hori's notes and homework when she needs to catch up.

The perpetual smile, however, hides a habit of concealing her true emotions and hurrying to reassure anyone who worries about her, especially Hori. She rarely voices what she actually wants, a trait her sister Miki flags as a bad habit of never asking for things. Beneath the sunny front runs an inferiority complex, a tendency to see herself as lesser and undeserving of what she has. That insecurity flares when she learns that Sakura Kōno, a student council member who later becomes a friend, has fallen for Ishikawa, stirring a pang of jealousy in her.

Both Hori and Miyamura tease Yoshikawa as a "pleb" for her plain, unpretentious tastes, and that same self-image drives her to reject Akane Yanagi, whom she assumes has refined, expensive preferences that would not suit someone like her; the irony is that she ends up falling for Ishikawa, the wealthiest of the group, who lives in an enormous house staffed with caretakers. She is fond of video games, particularly during her visits to the Ishikawa home, and she began carrying a sewing kit after noticing a hole in Mr. Nakamine's lab coat, though the real reason is that Ishikawa keeps losing his shirt buttons, something he never admits to her directly. Depending on the panel her hair is sometimes drawn up in pigtails, and her elder sibling is Miki Yoshikawa. Her given name uses the kanji meaning snow, while her surname combines characters for good fortune and river.
