Chapter 7

The chapter opens with Hori explaining that she has been pitching in for an overloaded student council. Miyamura offers to lend a hand but admits he would be of little use, and Hori bluntly agrees, since the work she handles is demanding. When he calls her an honor student, her younger brother Souta asks what that means, and Miyamura's glowing description of someone brilliant and hardworking leaves Hori red-faced and protesting. Souta wonders aloud whether such students can shoot light from their eyes, and Miyamura playfully suggests it might be possible with enough effort.

The next day Sengoku and Sakura thank Hori for finishing her assigned work, then immediately hand her another task because the rest of the council is swamped. She agrees despite her fatigue. Yuki notices how worn out she looks and argues that the others are simply taking advantage of her, but Hori insists she does not mind as long as she can be of help. Watching from a distance, Miyamura and Ishikawa also spot her exhaustion, and a small bragging match breaks out between the boys over who could actually be useful to her.

When Remi comes by to collect the completed files, she brushes past Miyamura in the hallway and scatters her stack, snapping at him for being in the way. As they scoop everything up, she rushes off and waves away a single dropped sheet, telling him to throw it out, but Miyamura holds onto it, sensing it matters. Back in the council room, that very file is reported missing, and suspicion falls on Hori, who is cornered and pressed to apologize even as she insists she finished everything. With a crowd gossiping and Ishikawa and Yuki failing to shield her, Miyamura pushes forward, hands Ishikawa his bag and glasses, and tells Hori she has nothing to apologize for.

Miyamura then yanks Sengoku close and knocks heads with him before producing the very file he had kept, prompting a tearful apology from Remi. Afterward the group agrees it was absurd to doubt Hori in the first place, while Sengoku comes away genuinely wary of Miyamura.
