Shougo Kukiyama

Wired oval glasses are the first thing anyone notices about Shougo, easily his standout feature. His black hair is trimmed into a Caesar cut, and his ears sit a touch wide on his head. For duty he pairs the CCG's regulation knee-length white coat over a plain black shirt and matching trousers.

Nerves rule him. Shougo reads as fearful and jittery, clumsy in his movements and unsure in his speech, never assertive when it counts. His timidity showed plainly when Seidou ambushed his group and he shrank behind Hina Tougi for cover rather than stand and fight.

As the auction cleanup began, Shougo lagged at the rear of the Atou Squad's entry into Zeum hall, his quinque not even drawn, and Tomonori Akai scolded him for it before he apologized. A ghoul nearly finished him off until Haise Sasaki intervened, and he stammered his thanks just as Nutcracker's partner appeared. He then watched his squad leader lose his head to Seidou Takizawa, was told to flee by Ryuuta Sawaike, and looked on in terror as Seidou devoured a person in front of him and beheaded Hina when she tried to jog his memory. Placed at the safest station far behind his teammates because of his limited skill and sluggish awareness, he was found unconscious in a restroom afterward, the last of the Atou Squad left alive. In the operation reports he is tagged with the trait perseverance.
