Personality

A caring sort, Hokuto looks after the bedridden Mizura and keeps him company. She is candid too, willing to discuss delicate matters even with strangers, from the village's star to what became of Sumaru's parents. Her devotion to Hoshigakure and its people runs deep, and she throws herself into the search for the star and into pressing her comrades to change the training. After splitting a meal with Naruto, she quietly falls for him.

History

Her defining art was the Mysterious Peacock Method, letting her mould chakra into a rope she could throw around an unwary enemy and squeeze the life from them. Her sensing was keen as well, catching a newcomer's approach and telling at once that his chakra was foreign to Hoshigakure. When the village banned the method outright, the star's energy was scrubbed from her body and the technique went with it.

Alongside the other Hoshigakure genin, she once tapped the meteor for extra power. She meets Naruto at the training camp by attacking him, startling him that his ambusher is a girl; on hearing he comes from Konohagakure she apologises, then reddens when his food winds up stuck to her. The two share it and agree it is delicious. She lets Naruto know Mizura has been unwell since his training started and, brushing past Mizura's objections, lays out the truth of the star and Sumaru's coldness. To Naruto and Neji she is the one who explains that the training is what is killing Mizura, the reason the Third Hoshikage called it off.

Once Naruto vanishes, she pushes everyone to look for him, yet only Sumaru joins her. When the rest of the genin fall in behind Akahoshi after an attack, she keeps faith with Sumaru and is labelled a missing-nin for it. Thinking Sumaru dead, she declares the star training has to end before it kills them all; she and the children refuse to back down as Akahoshi aims at Mizura, who takes an arrow for her and tells her to fight on in his name. Akahoshi ends up knocking the whole village unconscious, Hokuto among them. Shizune promises that, back in Konohagakure, the group will heal from what the star did to them, and before everyone parts she overhears Naruto and Sumaru bicker about which of them will reach Kage sooner.
