Summary

Years earlier, Cecil had banished Damien Darkblood back to Hell with an ancient exorcist's tome for defying his orders on the Guardians investigation. Later, as Darkblood's forces lose ground to Volcanikka, who tears apart his sister Domina, he uses a sample of Nolan's blood to summon a champion but pulls Mark down by mistake, an error that lets the mummy Ka-Hor escape on Earth with a new host. To turn the tide, Mark and Darkblood must first restore Satan's power. They plunge down a bottomless chasm, battle the hellhound Cerberus, and recover Satan's Molten Crown. Returning it restores Satan and revives Darkblood's fallen family, including Domina. Together the three confront Volcanikka, who overpowers Satan, but Mark steps in and forces the fiery tyrant to retreat.

Aftermath

With Volcanikka driven into hiding, Satan secures the Vile so the ancient monsters stay imprisoned in the Underrealm and sends Mark and Darkblood back to the surface, having spared Earth a demonic invasion. Quietly, he orders Darkblood to uncover Volcanikka's true motives and weighs traveling to the surface himself.
