Angstrom Levy

In his earliest days Angstrom is a tall, lean man with a black goatee, brown eyes, and a preference for a blue button-down and black slacks. The accident that changed him scorched away most of his hair and swelled his skull and back grotesquely, a pinkish vein tracing from crown to spine until the mass resembles an oversized brain. He took to a dark cloak rigged with spinal supports and a nasal apparatus that seem to keep him alive. Later he sports a sharp black-and-red suit acquired from another world, and once the Technicians rebuild him he gains embedded cybernetics, a heavy facial scar, a blinded eye, and armor of black and silver beneath a red cape.

The original Angstrom of the main universe started as a pacifist who saw his dimensional gift as a means to rescue the multiverse one world at a time. His method was extreme, gathering alternate selves and folding their memories into his own, yet he refused to kill and even abandoned his grand plan to save Invincible from the Mauler Twins. Desperation could still pull him toward compromise, as when he promised the Maulers a reality of their own in exchange for building his machine.

The disfigurement unmade all of that. Flooded with foreign memories, he could no longer tell which recollections were truly his, and he came to blame the Invincible he knew for the accident. His intellect stayed intact but turned cold and manipulative; he deceived, exploited, and stopped caring who got hurt. Convinced that Invincible would inevitably become a monster in any reality, he fixated on this uniquely heroic version, once nearly killing Debbie Grayson when his logic was challenged. By the time of the Invincible War he had sunk further, unleashing evil variants to wreck the hero's reputation so the world would fear and loathe him.

Angstrom was born able to open green portals into an endless array of parallel worlds, moving himself and others between them and using the rifts to deflect attacks or strand enemies elsewhere. His plan to better reality collapsed when Invincible intervened and accidentally disfigured him while granting him every alternate self's memories at once. Consumed by the influx and a thirst for payback, he set out to make the hero suffer.

His campaign led him to target Debbie and Oliver Grayson, only to be beaten across the multiverse by Invincible and left near death. The Technicians salvaged him, and in return he rebuilt his revenge around a gathered band of evil Invincible variants who waged open war on Earth. The scheme unraveled when those variants turned against him; Invincible defeated him again, tore off his arm, and the Technicians punished his failure. He now serves them as a grudging tool, his portals bent to their designs.
