You Look Horrible

The sixth episode of the fourth season formally opens the Viltrumite War. On Talescria, Thaedus rallies the Coalition and works with engineers on weapons built to exploit Viltrumite weaknesses, while Thragg delivers a chilling address to his own forces and, in an unnerving private habit, confides his fury to the skull of the late Emperor Argall. The war explodes into a montage of savage space battles as the galactic map shifts steadily toward the Coalition.

On a desolate rocky world, a gravely wounded Mark lies comatose after his clash with Conquest. Nolan carves a stone memorial for the fallen Viltrumite, which Oliver bitterly resents. Trapped by heavily patrolled airspace, the three must stay hidden until Mark heals. Nolan hunts monstrous local creatures for food and begins training Oliver, whose grief and resentment eventually boil over into a confrontation about whether his father is capable of loving anyone.

Aboard a Viltrumite vessel, Allen and Zoe Thompson ride along hidden under her Tech Jacket's shield, biding their time until they reach Glacia Prime. Their escape attempt fails when Lucan and Kradd spot them, and Allen throws Zoe to safety before the two Viltrumites overwhelm him. Zoe returns with Space Racer, whose Infinity Ray punches clean through Kradd and forces Lucan to retreat. The trio then reaches the Coalition stronghold, reuniting with Telia and Battle Beast and pledging to reinforce Thaedus's struggling war effort.

Nolan finally opens up about Oliver's mother, confessing that his earlier lie was meant to shield Debbie from more pain, and the two slowly rebuild their bond as Mark stirs awake after two months, now sporting a full beard. The reunion is cut short when the Coalition's long-hidden mole, Data Twin 2, drops Talescria's defenses and Thragg's forces besiege the capital. Thaedus fights on the front lines, but the tide turns only when the recovered Graysons arrive; a far stronger Mark takes Anissa out in a single blow, and he and Oliver gut the Viltrumite warship from within, forcing Thragg to evacuate and his survivors to retreat.

The title comes from what an alternate-timeline Atom Eve says when she finds Mark battered following his clash with Angstrom Levy back in issue 34. This installment reveals the Coalition mole teased since the second season and centers on two growing bonds, Allen's friendship with Tech Jacket and Nolan's reconciliation with Oliver. Mark's recovery takes two months here compared to nine in the comics, and his one-hit defeat of Anissa underscores how much stronger he has grown, given that she had beaten him before.
