Overview
Built by the scientists of the Coalition of Planets, the Scan Pad is a compact scanning tool. It takes the form of a slim cylinder with a white shell and grey caps at each end, a small button panel set near the top, and an inner chamber that lights up once it runs.
Role
The device exists to inspect areas, substances, and information for later study. Allen the Alien brought it to Earth when he tried and failed to recruit Invincible, who instead let him read Nolan's books, prompting Allen to produce the pad to record them. After he departed the planet, the Viltrumite warrior Anissa captured him, and the pad ended up held in the Viltrumite Prison Complex until Allen and Nolan broke out. In the run-up to the Viltrumite War, the Coalition leaned on tools like it to compile data on Viltrumite strengths and weaknesses, including whatever could be drawn from Omni-Man's books.
